DL162 - Certificate Portfolio Preparation

This Level 6, 10 ECTS Micro-credential is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to build a robust and first-class portfolio of work. This programme will help foster the skills & knowledge for portfolio development, building confidence in learners to tap into their creative abilities and delve deep into their passion. It will give learners the tools to create their own portfolio, either with content they already have created or new content from this programme.
All learners will have a finished short film by the end of the programme, alongside the skills and experience to produce a portfolio to be proud of. This programme is ideal for those who are returning to education or would like to work on their personal portfolio of work.
Who can apply?
This programme is open to:
- Anyone with a Leaving Certificate of NFQ Level 5 equivalent
- Those without academic qualifications but with relevant industry experience in this area
Whether they are preparing to return to education, broadening creative skills, or building a professional portfolio, this programme gives learners the opportunity to benefit from focused and expert guidance and support.
Course dates:
Courses take place Monday-Friday 10am-4pm
- 15.06.2026-26.06.2026 (2 weeks)
- 29.06.2026-10.07.2026 (2 weeks)
What will I learn?
- Portfolio structure and content, and practical knowledge about Film + TV production
- The basics of camerawork, framing, audio & lighting to assist the creation of content for a portfolio
- The basics of editing to put together a portfolio showreel
- The requirements of the learners in a student lead setting, allowing for more time to be dedicated where they would like to create a portfolio

Learners will be required to do some work outside of class over the weeks but most of it will be done in class.

Completion of this micro-credential does not automatically qualify learners for entry to IADT degree programmes. Applicants must apply through the CAO and meet the relevant portfolio and entry requirements. This course is designed to help applicants prepare a strong portfolio for their application.
