DL140-Certificate Storytelling for
the Metaverse

This course is currently offered in collaboration with Creative Futures Academy (CFA). Who is this course for?
You can be a complete novice or already have some experience with these technologies; all you need is an interest in experimenting and learning.
You might for example be a designer, a filmmaker, or an artist who is interested in expanding your creative practice to include different ways of interacting with the world in narrative or non-narrative forms. Or, you could be a beginner with an enthusiasm to learn and explore.
What will I study?
- Learn about the variety and scope of innovative or emerging digital audio-visual practices in contemporary culture, such as online media forms and genres, games, VR, AR, motion capture, multiplatform storytelling, or interactive media.
- Research, propose and develop your own project.
- Learn how to identify and devise an appropriate strategy, and a work schedule for bringing your project to a realisation stage using digital media techniques.
How will I be assessed?
You will create a self-directed project in an area of digital audio-visual practice.
You will be assessed on your project management, research and skills related to your own project. There are no written exams in this course.
Future careers
This course will help you make better choices about technologies in your chosen area of practice, whether that be heritage studies, museum education, event design, art practice, new media, filmmaking, designer or other forms of storytelling. You will be able to build on this certificate to take more advanced skills training in the future.
Dates + Times
The course will run in March – April 2023 in a blended format, with a mixture of online and on campus classes:
Thursday, 2nd March | 10am – 4pm | on campus
Friday, 3rd March | 10am – 4pm | on campus
1 x online tutorial. You will agree a date and time with the lecturer.
Thursday, 30th March | 10am – 4pm | on campus
Friday, 31st March | 10am – 4pm | on campus
Friday, 28th April | 10am – 4pm | on campus. A Show & Tell session.
