Supporting students from Ukraine

If the student meets the eligibility requirements listed above, they do not have to pay fees.

The BoTP stipend rates are:
(a) €3,230 for those whose primary residence is less than 30km to their higher education institution. (adjacent)
(b) €7,586 for those whose primary residence is 30km or more from their higher education institution. (non-adjacent)

The distance is measured using Google Maps.
(a) The distance is always measured from the primary or permanent residence to the relevant institution.
(b) The distance is always measured to the campus the applicant is attending, not the main campus of the college. The ‘Depart at’ time is set to 1 AM.
(c) The shortest is always the one taken, even if the duration is longer.

In cases where a student has a change of address during the academic year resulting in a positive change to the grant award rate, the student is required to provide evidence as above. The higher rate is awarded on a pro-rata basis from the month the change of address occurs.

When a course undertaken by a BoTP includes an Erasmus mobility, it should be noted that TP status in Ireland is based on ‘continuous residence’. This means that a BoTP can only be outside Ireland (inclusive of any personal events) for a maximum of 90 days per calendar year. As the granting of Temporary Status is a matter between the holder and the Visa Authorities, students are advised to contact those authorities on this matter.

In cases where the Department of Justice has confirmed that the student will retain their TP Status during the period of Erasmus+ mobility, the student should continue to receive their stipend while undertaking an Erasmus+ mobility.

Once a student has met the eligibility requirements, IADT will endeavour to get payments made as quickly as possible and in line with SUSI payments.

Realistically, the first couple of a payments may come together for September and October at the end of October as the administration team gather and verify the documentations.

Step 1: Register for your IADT programme.

Step 2: Complete the form as instructed at the top of this page.

Step 3: If you arrived in Ireland and received your temporary protection on or before the 31^st August 2023 you should then make your SUSI application

Step 4: If you are a continuing student and you arrived after the 31st of August 2023 IADT will calculate the BoTP stipend using the information you submitted in the form. First payments are likely to be at the end of October at the earliest.

Step 5: If you arrived after the 31st of March 2025 you won’t be getting the BoTP stipend but you still need to follow steps 1 and 2 to be eligible for EU Fees.
