Applied Psychology Graduate Derek Laffin
Derek completed the BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology in 2012 and it brought me on a diverse journey into academic research, teaching, and now psychology practice.
Derek went on to publish research in academic journals that was carried out in IADT during a Master of Research in the area of positive gaming and wellbeing.
Derek went into teaching at third level on the MSc Cyberpsychology course at IADT and at the Centre for Talented Youth Ireland (IADT) for three years.
Following that, Derek went on to work as a researcher in the DCU Anti-Bullying Centre where he published research, collaborated on international projects, and co-designed online safety and digital interventions with young people.
Recently, he has undertaken a professional training course in Educational and Child Psychology at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick with the intention of working with the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) in the very near future.
