Photography + Visual Media: Charlie Dineen
Since completing the programme, Charlie has continued to build an exciting artistic career, exhibiting at major institutions, earning prestigious awards, and developing a collaborative practice supported by peers and mentors who remain an integral part of their journey.
“Throughout my time studying the BA [Hons] Photography + Visual Media at IADT, I experienced a level of support that I truly believe would be difficult to find elsewhere. The insight and guidance of my lecturers were invaluable, and being part of a close-knit community for four years fostered constant dialogue and exchange among people who shared the same passions even when we didn’t always agree. Those conversations were central to my
development. I am especially grateful for IADT’s enduring commitment to the darkroom, which is where I feel much of my learning took place. I also feel fortunate that the course has since expanded to include a moving image component, an area I increasingly see myself gravitating toward in my practice”.
“Since completing my graduate project, I have been fortunate to present my work at IMMA, to receive a residency award with PhotoIreland, and to be awarded an Emerging Artist Award through the RDS Visual Art Awards, with work exhibited at the RHA. I have been able to sustain and develop my practice through commissioned work and collaborations with artists who share a similar passion. My graduate work is also scheduled to be exhibited across several galleries over the coming year. I remain deeply grateful for the strong support system around my mentors, peers, and institution who continue to check in, offer guidance, and provide encouragement whenever needed”.
