Applied Psychology Graduate Julie O’Sullivan
I graduated from IADT in 2017 and went straight into a Master’s in Work and Organisational Psychology at the University of Limerick. I was drawn to the positive psychology side of the field, wanting to help improve the experience people have at work. Compared to classmates from more traditional psychology backgrounds, I felt genuinely well prepared; IADT’s course was current, varied, and relevant in a way others weren’t.
After my Master’s, I joined a small consultancy of business psychologists, where I developed emotional intelligence in leaders, supported talent assessment through psychometrics, and facilitated training, drawing on public speaking skills first built through IADT’s CAs and presentations.
Since then I’ve added a diploma in Lean Process Improvement to my toolkit, and now coach business owners on mindset, communication, resilience, and building psychologically safe teams.
Almost nine years after graduating, I had a full-circle moment covering sick leave to lecture on the organisational psychology module myself, a great chance to see how much the college had grown.
