EU Erasmus+ Cyberpsychology Blended Intensive Program at IADT
In February 2026, IADT welcomed visiting students and lecturers from Tallinn University, Estonia and Hochschule der Medien, Stuttgart, Germany for an intensive week of collaboration, learning and cultural exchange as part of an EU Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in Cyberpsychology.
The Cyberpsychology BIP gave students an opportunity to explore the psychological impact of digital technologies, strengthen peer relationships internationally, and become part of IADT’s vibrant academic community.
From 23rd-27th February, visiting students engaged in a diverse programme of lectures and workshops led by IADT staff and graduates and visiting lecturers. Topics ranged from the foundations of cyberpsychology to emerging issues such as artificial intelligence, misinformation and deepfakes, online communication, gaming, and the social psychology of the internet. Students also explored immersive technologies through workshops in the IADT Immersive Media Lab and a group experience at Sandbox VR, giving them practical insight into how digital environments influence perception and behaviour.
Alongside the academic programme, cultural activities and social events helped students experience Irish culture while building lasting connections with their peers. Students were introduced to Irish culture and language at an Irish-themed dinner in IADT’s MiMa restaurant. It was followed by a céilí in the new Digital Media Building with Irish dancers from Niall Holly Academy recommended by Dr Olivia Hurley with music by Stefan Paz Berrios and musicians from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann recommended by Head of Faculty, Rónán Ó’Muirthile. IADT students were the sound technicians and photographers. The IADT student Psychology Society organised a quiz and pizza night and a fabulous Hollywood glamour themed Psychology Ball in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire, creating many opportunities for connection and community.
The Erasmus+ Cyberpsychology BIP was organised by Sonya Hogan, Hannah Barton, Dr Sinéad Meade, Dr Liam Challenor, Dr Andew Errity, and Dr John Greaney. Lectures and workshops were provided by Dr Liam Challenor, Hannah Barton, Rob Griffin, Natasha Cloran, Dr Auxane Boch, Dr Seamus Ryan, John Buckley, Andrew Eggers, Derek Laffan, Eden Bryan and Dr. Nina Butterer.
At Easter, a group of IADT BSc Applied Psychology students will travel to Estonia to complete an EU Erasmus+ BIP in Legal Psychology at Tallinn University.
