IADT Football Club Celebrates End‑of‑Season Success at McIntyre Cup Awards
The McIntyre Cup is an annual football match played between the IADT student team and a team of IADT graduates. The cup is played in memory of Barry McIntyre, a lecturer in marketing at IADT who sadly passed away in 2016, and continues to honour his legacy and contribution to the Institute.
The Cup is a significant and much‑anticipated event for players, staff and alumni, and is often hosted at Killbogget Park. The 10th anniversary of the match was organised in March 2026, marking a milestone in the competition’s history.
The awards ceremony celebrated standout performances and contributions from players across the club, recognising individual excellence, commitment and achievements on and off the pitch.
This year’s award recipients were:
🏆 Players’ Player of the Year: Stephen Tate Brown
🏆 Top Goal Scorer: Ayo Adebisi
🏆 IADT Club Man of the Year: Ruadhan Doyle
🏆 Player of the Year: Ethan Power
Special recognition was also extended to Derek McDonald, IADT Football Club Manager and Coach, in appreciation of his incredible dedication and unwavering support to the players and the Institute throughout the season and always. Derek’s leadership and commitment continue to play a vital role in the development of players and the strong football culture at IADT.
The Barry McIntyre Cup and accompanying awards remain an important opportunity to honour sporting excellence, remember a valued member of the IADT community, and celebrate the enduring connection between current students and alumni.
