Jobs Stimulus Modular Courses

IADT is offering 120 places on our Certificate and short modular online courses under the Government Jobs Stimulus initiative.

People in employment can be 90% funded under the scheme and jobseekers are fully funded.

The closing date for applications to the two following courses has been extended to 5pm on 12th January 2021:

  • DL124 Certificate in Applied Digital Business 30 credits – Level 8
  • DL138 Certificate in Strategic Finance + Taxation 10 credits – Level 8

Certificate in Applied Digital Business

This 30 credit Special Purpose Award in Applied Digital business  aims to give learners a solid understanding of key digital requirements for business in the areas of web design and digital marketing.

  • Time: 8 hours per week (Thursday am 10am-12pm, Friday 9am-4pm)

Course details:
Learners will acquire digital skills that underpin the cross-sectoral and transversal nature of the workplace of the future and aims to raise awareness of the impact of digital transformation and plan for it. The programme aims to enable learners to acquire the advanced knowledge, skills and competencies required to developing an online presence for a business.

The focus of this course is to prepare participants for the workplace of the future that fuses human and digital capabilities. The modules in this programme address digital literacy and capability and give learners an understanding of web building and digital marketing and insight into the freely available digital tools to develop content for businesses.

Certificate in Strategic Finance + Taxation

This 10 credit, Level 8 module in Strategic Finance and Taxation aims to give learners a solid understanding of the importance of Finance and Taxation in SMEs and micro organisations and to give learners the opportunity to think at a strategic level.

  • Duration: 11 weeks starting Thursday 4th February 2021
  • Time: 3 hours per week and 1 evening per week

Course details:
The module will provide participants with the strategic finance and taxation skills relevant for employment in the cultural and creative sector, and responds to the skills deficit as identified in various skills needs reports. On completion of this module participants will have a good knowledge of :  payroll taxes, VAT and Company taxation, Analysis of Published Accounts of Arts Organisations, Report Writing & Data Visualisation.

This module is aimed at upskilling and re-skilling employees, unemployed persons and returners to the culture and creative industries

Certificate in Cultural Event Management

The aim of this 15 credit, Level 9 module is to enable the learner to develop knowledge skills and competencies in cultural event management.

  • Duration: 11 weeks starting Monday 8 February 2021
  • Time: Monday 6pm-8pm, Wednesday 11am-1pm and some scheduled workshops
  • Places: 20 for intake 1 in February and 20 for intake 2 which will run from April to June
  • Mode of delivery: online / blended
  • Entry requirements: Level 8 or equivalent

Course details:
This is a 15 ECTS Certificate in Cultural Event Management at level 9. Learner will develop knowledge skills and competencies in cultural event management. The objective is ensure learners develop a critical appreciation of the event context and then apply a range of management tools and methodologies in the design and execution of an original cultural event. Learners will be able to conceptualise, develop and plan an event idea, from ideation through to post event evaluation.

Certificate in User Research + User Experience Design

The aim of this 10 credit, Level 8 module is to introduce learners to the key stages of the user experience (UX) design lifecycle including user research methods used to gain an understanding of user needs and design techniques used to prototype interactive products.

Course details:
Learners will be introduced to the key stages of the user experience design process with a focus on user research, design/prototyping and testing. Learners will gain practical research skills including the use of questionnaires, interviews and observations. From this research, learners will draw insights to understand their users’ needs and frustrations. Learners will then apply UX design techniques to produce a prototype solution to the problems identified during research and test this solution to ensure it meets the users’ needs.

Certificate in Interaction Design Principles

The aim of this 10 Credit Level 8 module is to introduce learners to interaction design fundamentals including a range of common design patterns, digital prototyping tools and interaction design processes.

Course details:
This course aims to provide a practical introduction to the field of interaction design. The course will focus on key principles, patterns and trends in the design of modern interactive systems. Learners will gain an understanding of related theory from areas such as user psychology and gamification. Learners will apply elements of the above in practical design exercises using modern digital design tools and by adapting interactive code examples.

Certificate in Cyberpsychology

The aim of this 10 credit, Level 8 module is to introduce learners to the field of Cyberpsychology. Cyberpsychology examines the online world and its impact on human behaviour. It is an essential area of expertise for anyone who wishes to make the most of online technologies. Cyberpsychology also considers the impact of new technologies on users, from the latest mobile devices and gaming systems to high-end virtual reality equipment.

Course details:
This Certificate combines a mix of lectures, practical work and informal discussions around important topics in cyberpsychology. You are also provided with a series of study skills seminars including essay writing, referencing and researching academic literature.
You are required to complete assignments during the year, but there are no written examinations. Support is also provided as you prepare your assignments, and feedback is available on drafts if required. You work directly with the cyberpsychological phenomena studied, such as online marketing, artificial intelligence, online gaming and virtual worlds.

Certificate in Data Visualisation

The aim of this 10 credit, Level 8 module is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively communicate information through a graphical means. This course aims to provide an understanding of the theory underpinning the field of data visualisation and to provide an introduction to the practicalities of creating effective graphical representations of data.

Course details:
This course combines a mix of lectures, practical work, and informal discussions around important topics in data visualisation. Students will be required to critique existing visualisations, find interesting data sets, and create their own visualisations.
The course is suitable for individuals involved in the collection, analysis or interpretation of data, as well as for those responsible for the communication of data to a range of audiences. It is not necessary to have a technical background in data analysis to benefit from this course.
You will be required to complete two assignments during the year, but there are no written examinations.

The Modular Skills Provision funded programmes have been selected to address specific economic and social needs arising from COVID19. Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD announced over €30 million in free and subsidised higher education places under the Jobs Stimulus package to help get people back to work, upskill workers and build economic confidence while continuing to manage the impact of COVID-19.

Applicants who are in receipt of social welfare payments including the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) will be eligible for free fees. Those in employment will be required to pay only 10% of the course fee.  Applications are now open.
