Plans for Safer Reopening across Higher Education Announced
IADT welcomes this mornings announcement by THEA and the IUA, which provided details of a coordinated plan for a safe return to campus for third-level institutions from September.
This cross-sectoral approach complements the Safe Return to On-site Further and Higher Education and Research, published by D/FHERIS in June.
IADT’s President David Smith commented;
“Today’s announcement of a joint plan for HEIs is timely and most welcome. I want to thank our colleagues in THEA and the IUA for successfully advancing this coordinated approach. The approval of Minister Simon Harris and the positive endorsement received by our public health experts further emphasise the safety and sustainability of the plan.
IADT is fully committed to providing a safe on-campus experience for all of our students from September. We will begin to implement the recommendations confirmed today, along with our existing and extensive range of public health measures that have assured our community’s safety and wellbeing throughout this pandemic. I would also like to encourage our students to avail of the increased vaccination options now open to them – this will allow them to return to campus with even greater confidence in September.”
