Kodak film was used to shoot 4 out of 5 BAFTA nominations for Best Film in 2024, and 19 of the 32 films nominated for Oscars.
After the screening of the submitted 64 commercials, awards were presented by hosts Gémina Gil Flores and Jemma Burgess, known as The Gems, an award-winning creative team at McCann’s. This was followed by a drinks reception where all of the students from across the UK and Ireland had the opportunity to network with their peers and industry,
Talented NFS students Mark Lynch, Oisín Mc Keogh, Maiya Rice and Cian Brennan attended the event, along with lecturer Sarah Gunn and Jean Rice, Chair of Film + Television. Of the event, the students said: “It was such a wonderful experience to compete against and meet with our film peers in the UK and we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome.”
“The Kodak/Nahemi Student Awards have become an increasingly significant milestone in the NFS calendar. We are steadfast in maintaining our creative bond with 16mm film and take immense pride in our students’ dedication to their craft.” Vanessa Gildea, Head of the National Film School.
The competition has been running for over 40 years and is organised by Peter Hort from the University of Westminster and David Heineman from the University of Middlesex. It was judged by a panel of representatives from the agencies that supplied the briefs, Sam Clark from Kodak and the chair of Nahemi.
