Ola Majekodunmi | English, Media + Cultural Studies
How did you come to study at IADT and what attracted you the college and the courses you have studied here?
I had been studying my undergraduate in BA (Hons) English, Media + Cultural Studies prior to starting my MA in Broadcast Production in the National Film School at IADT. In my final year of EMCS I was researching about the next step to take after the course. I decided to look online at IADT’s postgraduate courses and instantly found a course I’d have interest in! I had been doing some broadcasting before the MA course and knew this was the right course for me to enhance my understanding and practical skills of the broadcasting world. IADT is such a creative college and I really felt like this was the right place for me to undergo my studies and I’m pleased with my decision!
How did your choice of courses complement each other?
Bringing my knowledge from English, Media + Cultural Studies to the MA in Broadcast Production was really helpful to me. I had previously had that critical thinking mind-set and that was a plus to me in coming up with ideas and questioning how the broadcasting industry works. My EMCS knowledge was also helpful to me in my MA as we had academic essays at the beginning of the term and I had already been used to this from EMCS. I had furthered my interest in political and social issues on during my time in EMCS and I was able to bring this to life on radio and on screen during some of my MA projects.
What is the best thing about studying at the National Film School?
The National Film School is so spacious and fascinating. The TV studio and control room are amazing. The film and radio equipment are also high-end quality! It was a privilege to be in that space and use the facilities.
What does the future hold for you?
I’m confident that I’ll continue to work in the broadcasting and journalism industry. Now that I have my MA in Broadcast Production, I feel it’ll be a bigger plus for me for getting more jobs in the industry. I’ve enhanced my practical skills, especially when it comes to editing.
What has been your favourite part of studying at IADT?
IADT is like one big family. It’s such a friendly campus and atmosphere! I will really miss it. The courses I’ve studied at IADT have really helped me grow as a person and I made friends for life there. I made the right decision in choosing IADT.
IADT is…….
