The Cutting Edges project builds bridges between virtual production studios and educators, develops professional expertise, and creates a network for future virtual production specialists.
The project’s key objectives are:
- Developing effective collaboration models between virtual production studios and educational institutions
- Strengthening the professional skills of film school staff and VP studio personnel
- Training future talents to produce virtual productions within a network of professionals through innovative, non-linear pedagogy
Educational institutions and virtual production companies are working together to develop expertise scaffolding. They test and simulate the non-linear virtual production process, from innovation, planning, and scriptwriting to filming, editing, and reflection. This forms the foundation for creating a virtual film production education model.
The Cutting Edges project will enhance educators’ expertise and improve employment opportunities in virtual productions for both professionals and students. Simultaneously, the project addresses the skills gap in virtual production across film, media, and arts sectors. The project’s main deliverables include a studio access model, VP ecosystem report, pedagogical guidelines for VP workflow, VP learning package, publications, VP education action plan, and curriculum recommendations.
