Sporting achievements at IADT
Football
Team IADT won the Robert Eustace Shield Cup Final by beating a strong Drogheda team 3 – 0. The final match was played as part of the national cup final series in Limerick. Two expertly taken penalties by ‘man of the match’, Cormac Herlihy, and a superb team goal, finished off by Daibhid Corish helped IADT to victory. Drogheda could find no way past our rock solid defence which was expertly marshalled by Aidan Quinn (goal keeper).
The hard-working management team of Derek McDonald, Kieran O’Neill and Seb Dungan were delighted to help IADT to a fourth national title in ten years. Congratulations to all involved in a great campaign.
Taekwondo
Congratulations to Prince Bosco Hakiza, a Year 3 Entrepreneurship student, on winning IADT's first ever gold medal at the Taekwondo Intervarsity Championships. He dominated the lightweight (71 kg) Black Belt sparring completion with clear wins in the semi-final and final. Prince also won a silver medal in the patterns.
The team was expertly managed by Paul H. Higgins who is also a Year 3 Entrepreneurship student.
Golf
Fantastic performances by IADT Team Golf in the Irish Colleges Match Play Sprint at Woodbrook Golf Club. Both teams performed excellently in this highly competitive championship. Our A Team won the bronze medal. Best wishes to Marc Nolan with his pursuit of a career in professional golf.
