IADT Graduate Vera Klute announced as winner of the 2015 Hennessy Portrait Prize
Launched in 2014 and now in its 2nd year, the Hennessy Portrait Prize attracted entries from over 260 artists which were shortlisted to 12. The judging panel which included Aidan Dunne (Irish Times), artist Colin Davidson, Catherine Marshall and Anne Hodge. The judging panel was chaired by Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, Sean Rainbird. The shortlisted entries will be on display at the National Gallery of Ireland until February 2016.
Vera Klute was awarded the prize of €15,000 for her oil on canvas painting entitled, Anne Ryder. She will also receive a commission worth €5,000 to produce a portrait for inclusion in the National Portrait Collection. Vera’s many achievements and awards include the 2015 Hennessy Craig Scholarship, a number of Arts Council Bursary Awards and the K+M Evans Award for Painting. In 2014, Vera’s portrait of Sr Stanislaus Kennedy was selected to be added to the National Portrait Collection at the National Gallery of Ireland. Vera Klute has exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad, both as a solo artist and in group exhibitions.

- End of the Line – QSS Gallery, Belfast
