Sinéad Meade
Awards & Achievements
In 2020, Sinéad received a National Teaching Hero Award from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education for her work as a lecturer on the BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology at IADT. These are Ireland’s only national, student-led awards in higher education.
In 2012, Sinéad received a NAIRTL National Award for Excellence in Teaching for her work on the Higher Certificate in Arts in Custodial Care (HCCC) which was an innovative bespoke programme co-delivered by IT Sligo and the Irish Prison Service to approximately 1,000 recruit prison officers from 2008-2013.
Research Activities
Sinéad has played a key role in research methods and statistics education in the Department on both the undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programmes at IADT. She has performed the role of committee member and Chair of the Department of Technology and Psychology Ethics Committee and Applied Psychology final year Major Research Project Co-ordinator.
Sinéad is currently studying a PhD on a part-time basis at Queen’s University Belfast. The aim of this research is to explore prison officer types in the Irish Prison Service along with key individual and organisational factors. Previously, Sinéad has worked on a variety of research projects in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
