David Smith
He is the former Head of Faculty of Film, Art and Creative Technologies at IADT. He has extensive experience in higher education and professional practice. He is principal of the widely acclaimed design studio Atelier and was Programme Chair and Senior Lecturer in Visual Communications Design at IADT until 2015.

I am the founder and principal of Atelier Projects an independent design practice. The studio is among the most decorated and awarded Irish design practices with numerous national awards and international recognition.

I am a committed advocate for Irish Design and through my role here at IADT and the output of my studio practice I have contributed greatly to the enhanced reputation of Irish graphic design over the last decade.
I was on the steering group and advisory panel for the year of Irish Design 2015; and more recently have been an advisor and contributor to the National Strategy for Design.Institute of Creative Advertising and Design Annual Awards
In 2012 I co-founded the 100Archive (www.100archive.com) to record and capture the history and practices of Irish graphic design.
I am a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (www.a-g-i.org) and currently hold an Executive role with the organisation.
