Dr Nicola Porter
I am a lecturer on the BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology. My current responsibilities include teaching Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology, coordination and supervision of 3rd year projects, and supervision of 4th year projects. I am also a Year Tutor. I recently acted as lead on our application to PSI for re-accreditation of our degree.

Research projects
2014 to present
Investigating the cognitive aspects of emotion regulation during film viewing in collaboration with Dr Brendan Rooney (University College Dublin) and Mr Eric Somers.
2006 to 2008
The development of a technology-mediated memory aid for older adults called Multiminder. This project was funded by the R + D Skills Training Programme (Strand 1) to supervise Dr Niamh Caprani’s work towards an MSc by Research with my colleague Dr John Greaney.

Leaving Certificate Short Course in Psychology
I acted as lead on the psychology team’s work with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) on the proposed Leaving Certificate short course in Psychology. The draft syllabus is available to view here.
