David Flood | BA (Hons) Photography
I have been in and out of IADT since 2003, studying courses in both Fine Art and Photography so I have plenty of experience of the place. In a way it feels like a second home to me and that is down to its atmosphere and the teaching staff. Their knowledge, helpfulness and professionalism always amazed me and has really assisted me in gaining a great amount of skill and knowledge from the practice-led MA there. You are challenged to push yourself which helps in getting to the high levels required from a Masters.
Within my practice-led MA programme, I reflected on representations of urban space in the context of globalised production and neoliberal governance. I focused on two locations, the Docklands in Dublin and Pasila in Helsinki, Finland. Apart from my thesis, the final output also included arranging exhibitions in both cities. I am currently residing in Helsinki, working in photographic printing and training but hoping to move on to study a PhD. On both academic and practice levels, the experience I gained in completing my MA will help me achieve that.
