‘Introduction to Comics’ elective final project

These include the production of a short autobiographical piece of work, a comic strip adaptation of a narrative in another medium, and a substantial final piece of work, examples of which are presented here. Students on the module come from a variety of IADT Film, Art + Creative Technologies courses and report that the experience of working in the comics medium can have a substantial impact on their core practice.

For example, students from the Animation and Film + Television Production courses consider framing and composition in the context of a different storytelling medium, or students from the Visual Communications Design course look at new ways of combining text, image and layout in terms of the comic book page. Each year the all of students on this module continue to impress with their enthusiastic and innovative approach to making comics!
