I am concerned about my friend/peer who appears to experience low mood/depression
Your friend/peer may need to access IADT supports for their mood. Student Health and Student Counselling are both available, as well as other learning and progression supports.
Symptoms that you might observe in your friend/peer are as follows.
• General, pervasive low mood affecting their thoughts, feelings or behaviour
• appearing sad or not enjoying things as much they did
• appearing unsettled or panicky
• experiencing sleep disturbance, as described or as observed
• appearing unusually angry or frustrated
• appearing more forgetful, absent in focus, than usual
For some, these symptoms can be associated with general overwhelm, burnout, grief, or be tied to another life experience. For others, they are indicative of a depressive experience. Either way, your friend/peer may benefit from the presence of professional support.
