BA [Hons] Art Graduate Lauren Conway Awarded Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Emerging Artist Bursary
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is delighted to announce Lauren Conway as recipient of the 2021 Emerging Artist Bursary, awarded to a graduate of the IADT BA (Honours) in Art.
Lauren will receive a Bursary €2,000 for the creation and development of new work, to support her in furthering her artistic career.
Lauren’s graduate project, A Great Public Meeting, using drawing to explore collective memories of being a participant within public educational spaces. Working with archival materials, documentation of site visits, and found images from her teenage years, she seeks to question and challenge the aspirational promises put forward by the state through formal education.
Selected group exhibitions include DHG Student Forum iii Rendering New Realities – Access and Alterity, The Douglas Hyde, Dublin, (2021) cruxx.project, Rathmichael Ring Fort, (2021). Her graduate work, A Great Public Meeting, first presented at IADT On Show, (2021) will be exhibited at the RDS Visual Arts Awards in the RHA this November. Lauren’s writings have been published in Bloomers Art Magazine, RHA Young Art Writers Zine, and in the online programme for cruxproject.net. She is currently a member of Ormond Art Studios, Dublin and is preparing for her first solo exhibition Karen in their project space in October 2021.
