Allyson will outline her journey from Dublin Art student, to working with contemporary artists and her role as Director/Producer. She will discuss navigating the often unpredictable freelance industry and the possibilities for graduates to identify and use their skillsets across art, design and film.
She can address questions on working with contemporary artists and filmmakers in an increasingly cross disciplinary landscapes and elaborate on the economy of art in a contemporary and global context.




Allyson Spellacy
Born in Dun Laoghaire, Allyson Spellacy attended Pre-Diploma NCAD (1985),
University of Ulster at Belfast for Combined Studies (1988); and completed her MFA with a minor in Urban Studies at Hunter College New York (2002).
She has worked at the Board of Education’s Public Art for Public Schools (1996 – 1999); New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs (1999 –
2002); Partnered at Parker’s Box Gallery (2002 – 2005); Directed Exhibitions for Gagosian Gallery (2005 – 2012); Senior Director at Gladstone Gallery (2012 – 2018); Partnered at Fergus McCaffrey New York, Tokyo, St. Barth (2018 – 2022); and independently Curated for several international exhibitions and site specific projects before returning to Gagosian Gallery in 2024.
She has worked extensively with Matthew Barney, Ellen
Gallagher, Yayoi Kusama and currently with Jordan Wolfson.
