As Minister for Education, Niamh established IADT on 1st April 1997. Niamh served on the IADT Governing Body from 2006 to 2014 during which time she served as Deputy Chairperson from 2011 to 2014 and acted as Chairperson in 2011.
Among Ms Bhreathnach’s achievements were the abolition of third-level undergraduate tuition fees and significant increases in education spending, the introduction of the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme, and making the Transition Year programme available to all second-level schools.
