The commitment of additional and substantial financial resources will ensure that our students can return to their studies in September, confident that the necessary learning resources, ICT devices and student health and well-being supports will be in place.
In acknowledging the Government’s commitment, IADT President David Smith remarked;
“The last number of months have posed many challenges and placed enormous demands on all of our staff and students here at IADT. I am immensely proud of how we have responded and safely negotiated the first phase of the Covid-19 crisis. However, implementing new safety standards, blended modes of teaching, and maintaining the same high level of academic and student supports throughout the next academic year requires significant investment and continuous support. Today’s commitment by Minister Harris and Minister Collins is most welcome. It should contribute greatly to IADT being in a position to maintain our high academic standards, our unique student experience and also provide the specialist digital tools and ICT supports necessary for our students.
Finally, I very much appreciate the focus on helping students with disabilities and the significant provision made for student’s mental health and well-being. These are areas of real concern for IADTSU, and I know our student union will value this investment in these specific areas of need.”
