Lights, Camera Action! St. Fiacc’s National School Visit the National Film School at IADT
The red carpet was rolled out for the young filmmakers during their Visit the National Film School (NFS) on Monday, May 20th 2024.
The creative minds behind the 2023 Aileen Keogh Film of the Year, ‘Podorozh’, were invited for a special rendezvous at the National Film School at IADT, as part of the FÍS Initiative.
Taking top prize in February’s recent live awards show, the students were invited to explore the National Film School in acknowledgement of their recent success. Each year, National Film School opens its doors to the school that takes the Film of the Year award in the annual FÍS Film Competition, offering a unique and inspiring opportunity to the next generation of filmmakers.
The group of 6th year students from St. Fiacc’s National School Film Club students travelled up from Carlow Monday morning, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to delve behind the scenes of the National Film School. Along with their lead teacher Mr Kevin Keogh, the group were warmly greeted by David Cooper and Jean Rice and students of the TV and Broadcast Production classes.
The morning was spent in the National Film School with the students immersing themselves in the magic of live broadcasting under the expert guidance of David Cooper and his talented students. The students from St. Fiacc’s were treated to an exclusive Backstage pass, witnessing first-hand the inner world of how stories are brought to life on the big screen.
Armed with newfound knowledge and confidence, the young filmmakers stepped into the spotlight, writing their own scripted prompts and conducting their very own live interviews with their accompanying teachers. A truly memorable experience was enjoyed by all!
