Lauren Rol | MA in Broadcast Production
What made you choose to study the MA in Broadcast Production for Radio + Television at IADT?
Before this course I had little to no experience in television and came from an advertising background. I had always wanted to work in TV but didn’t know how to get into such a tough industry and this Masters was a great starting point.
On embarking the course I quickly realised there was a lot I didn’t know and a lot to learn. Everything from documentary making, editing, researching, television and radio show production were all very new to me but with great classes and teachers I was able to tackle these tasks head on.
What was your favourite part of the course?
As most TV and Radio students find out, the production side is where you can get really creative and this MA, with it’s world class facilities, is a great place to learn. Producing and presenting radio shows and directing muti-camera TV shows was thrilling.
What have you gone on to do since graduating?
Since leaving the MA in Broadcast Production I have moved to London and worked on three world known productions. I started out as a Logger on Big Brother which led on to the same role at Celebrity Big Brother and I am now a Researcher at The X Factor UK. I am hoping to continue with this streak and work on many more television shows to come.
To be honest I would not have had the skills to be confident enough to even apply for these jobs without this MA. There is no such thing as too much education and in order to make a career change I had to have an accreditation and the skillset to do so.
