TIMETABLES FYF SCHEDULES
IADTSU and our First Year Focus Team have put together a series of wonderful and informative events for incoming students, spread across the first three weeks of term. Further information and timetables will be available soon. All schedules are subject to change, new dates may be added, all events are weather permitting.

HEAR/DARE Orientation
The HEAR, DARE & Access orientation will be held on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 from 10am to 3pm.

Mature Students
We will be holding a welcome and information session where students can get to know each other and IADT, as well as meeting the Student Experience Team. In addition to this, we will be hosting a series of informative workshops for Mature Students to prepare you for the term ahead, on topics such as time management, goal setting, maintaining motivation and academic writing, amongst others.

Week 1: Induction Week
Induction week is designed to welcome incoming IADT students and assist with the transition to university life. Held on the first week of term, students will be introduced to the IADT Campus and Facilities and even have the opportunity to meet with lecturers, academic instructors, First Year Focus Leaders, Staff, and the IADT Support Staff. Attendance at the induction session is mandatory. This provides an excellent opportunity for students to acquaint themselves with all aspects of IADT, seek answers to any initial queries, receive their student card, and connect with fellow students

Week 2: Freshers Week
Freshers Week is a fantastic week of events and workshops put together by the Student’s Union and First Year Focus Leaders, designed to help incoming students get to know each other and our campus through a wide rage of exciting events and workshops.
The SU and FYF Leaders have been working hard to ensure that there is something to suit all taste at Freshers Week, as there is sure to be something for everyone! Students will have the opportunity to participate in lots of fun activities to help them integrate into the IADT community and kick off the college year!

Week 3: Welfare Week
IADT will host Welfare Week in the third week of term to provide information on Welfare Services at IADT and answer any questions that incoming students may have about the supports available to them. Students will also find out where exactly they need to go should they require access to various IADT Welfare Services throughout the academic year.

Week 4: Education Week
IADT’s Education Week will take place in the fourth week of term, and is designed to help students get to grips with the different aspects of education involved in university life, such as academic writing, time management, goal orientation and study skills, among others.
Many new students can struggle with the transition from second to third level education, however by attending Education Week students will have an opportunity to ask important questions, learn new skills and take charge of their personal academic journey.

The International Officer, Sonya Hogan will be in attendance at the Week One First Year Focus sessions to support any students who have recently moved to Ireland. If you have any queries in advance of coming to Ireland, please email international@iadt.ie.

My name is Chloe and I am the IADT Students' Union President this academic year. I graduated from New Media Studies in 2025 and previously worked as the Deputy President and Vice President for Welfare and Equality in IADTSU during the academic year 2025/26. During my time as a student I started two societies, was a class representative, a faculty representative for the Faculty of Enterprise and Humanities, and took part in the Erasmus+ exchange programme. It's not my house, but I sure do know my way around here! I am sure you are feelings a million and one emotions about starting in IADT. I want to assure you that this is a special place. Not only are we Ireland's leading campus for creatives and innovators, we also foster a culture of community and belonging in IADT. My team of officers and I work tirelessly to make sure you get the most out of your time in IADT, by organising workshops, campaign weeks and events focused around student life in IADT in collaboration with our clubs and societies . IADTSU boasts a broad range of clubs and societies started and managed by students from Games society to Tea Party Society to Volleyball Club. There is something here for everyone! Like I mentioned, IADT is a special place, oozing with creativity, kindness and openness. I would encourage you to have a look at our clubs and societies and immerse yourself in our student life to really enhance your IADT experience and make everyday memorable! Chloe Danga
Chloe Danga is the President of IADT Students' Union for the academic year 2026/27. She is a graduate from IADT Dun Laoghaire with a Honours Bachelors Degree in New Media Studies. Chloe has held multiple leadership roles within IADT, including founding and presiding over the Afro-Caribbean Society, and founding and serving as president of Erasmus Student Network IADT Global and much more.

I’m delighted to welcome you to IADT and to introduce you to First-Year Focus (FYF) – our programme of supports and activities dedicated to you, our incoming class of 2026–27. Making the transition to third-level education is a significant step, and at IADT, we pride ourselves on being a supportive, friendly, and accessible community.
As you commence your studies, we want you to experience a safe, unique, and memorable first year. The FYF programme provides all the information and support you need to familiarise yourself with IADT’s inclusive culture and campus environment.
The IADT staff, faculty, and your FYF leaders are here to support you and are excited to watch you thrive on campus. So, I encourage you to engage fully with FYF, support each other, and enjoy the beginning of your IADT journey.
David Smith
David Smith was appointed President of IADT in 2020. He is the former Head of Faculty of Film, Art and Creative Technologies at IADT. He has extensive experience in higher education and professional practice. He is principal of the widely acclaimed design studio Atelier and was Programme Chair and Senior Lecturer in Visual Communications Design at IADT until 2015.

Koda Byrne
My name is Koda Byrne, I am studying New Media Studies and I’m in my 2nd year of college. As a first year focus leader, my goal is to help 1st years get involved in life on campus. I am very involved in events around campus and in the DJ society, and I would love to see new first years being able to do the same thing.
Evan Sheahan
My name is Evan Sheahan. I have just completed first year of the Applied Psychology course at IADT. One of my strongest memories of starting first year was how nervous but excited I was returning to studying and meeting new people. I remember getting used to the campus, figuring out the timetable and adjusting to college life. I wanted to go to IADT because I liked the atmosphere and the strong sense of community on campus. I am looking forward to being a FYF leader because I know starting college can feel overwhelming.
Carmen Bernal
My name is Carmen, and I am a mature student in my 3rd Year in Fine Art. IADT is where you will explore, develop, and discover through interesting and engaging modules. As a mature student, I enjoy learning from my peers what is current and relevant, and it is an excellent opportunity to build connections and exchange ideas with others, especially when collaborating with students from my course and across Faculty. As an international student living in Ireland for the past 26 years, I understand what it means to be away from home.
Cian O Meara
Hi, my name is Cian and I am going into my 4th and final year of Applied Psychology at IADT. This is my 3rd year of being a FYF leader and I am happy to help people settle into college life and answer any questions or queries. My favourite thing about attending IADT is how interconnected the college community is, you get to meet loads of great people across different disciplines, through college events and on campus. I hope as a first-year focus leader I can help make the college transition easier and be a friendly face along the way.
Ciara Fitzpatrick
My name is Ciara, and I am a 2nd year Television student. I remember my first day in IADT was sort of intimidating, as I didn’t know anyone, and was dealing with a bit of imposter syndrome. By the end of our induction I managed to settle into my class and now I’ve met my best friends! One thing I love about IADT is how practical the coursework is. It’s a great way to learn, and I’ve really fallen in love with what I’m doing after just my first year. I wanted to be an FYF leader this year so that I can be there for anyone feeling the same way.
Aoibheann Kelly
Hi! My name is Aoibheann and I'm a 2nd year TV student here at IADT. I picked IADT as my first choice of college as I fell in love with the studio rooms and the campus during the open days. I remember how scared I was on my first day here at IADT as I basically knew no one in the college. However, everyone here was so welcoming and sweet and I really wanted to be an FYF leader to help other people in the way I was helped on my first few weeks going into college. I'm always up for a chat and can't wait to meet you all in September!
Emma Crowe
Hi my name is Emma Crowe and I’m going into 2nd year Applied Psychology here in IADT. I completed a plc in psychology before coming into IADT which reaffirmed that psychology was what I wanted to do but I remember I was still slightly nervous before going into first year. I am excited and honoured to be a first year leader and I look forward to helping ease those induction day nerves, and to raise awareness for our amazing additional and disability supports here in IADT.

Hi my name is Caoimh Greene and I am a first year visual Art student. I love IADT as you feel right at home when you start and feel part of something special. My first memory of IADT was sitting in the induction and feeling like I was in the right place. I felt very welcomed and any nerves I was experiencing soon went away. It was so lovely to be there and know that I would be ok. FYF really helped me settle in so I wanted to be a part of the experience for other new students.
Orla Godfrey
My name is Orla Godfrey and I have just finished my third year in the BA Art course. I specialise in 2D work, which is mainly painting and print, but can also include textile, mosaic, cut-out, or any medium you desire. I've really enjoyed how flexible the course is and I feel that that makes it into a place where your creativity can flourish. I want to be a First Year Focus leader because I know first-hand how difficult it can be to transition from school to college.
Eimear Macken
Hi there, my name is Eimear Macken. I am a mature student and a mother of two. I'm in my third year of Art Sculpture at IADT, and I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. I would like the first-year students to know that IADT is a fully inclusive college where you are safe to be yourself and feel accepted. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing you thrive in your first great year!

Hi, my name is Kamto and I'm going into my 2nd year in Digital Marketing at IADT. I chose to come to IADT because I wanted to be able to get away from the stress of exams and come to a college where you learn through practical assessments, rather than sitting a three hour exam. I decided to be a First Year Focus Leader because my first day in IADT I had my FYF leaders come up to me and support me into getting involved in activities and talk with people and I want to be able to give back to you what they gave to me as you come to IADT.

Hello! I am Lauren Butler and I am a Third year Art student and I am very happy to be a part of the First Year Focus team. I want to provide guidance and support where I can and also act as a welcoming presence for people, encouraging them to take full advantage of college life through academic support, resources and taking part in different clubs & societies IADT has to offer. Hey! My name is Lee, I'm a third year in Animation. I chose IADT Animation for the creative freedom that IADT provide. I love our campus because of how well you get to know everyone, there's always opportunity to start new events, clubs and collaborate with students from other courses. Hi! My name is Owen Bilag, and I am entering my second year of creative computing at IADT. After my first week of IADT I knew I'd have the most fun here, and I couldn't have been more right. I've had truly the most life changing experiences here, all being great. I love the overall atmosphere of IADT but mainly the community here, everyone is just the kindness and most supportive. STUDENTS’ UNION
IADT Students’ Union represents and supports all students. It’s run by students with elected representatives from each class on Union Council. Its functions include representing the student body at an academic level, offering advice on welfare, finances and education.
