At the centre of this programme are a group of dedicated educators and student advocates, including the Students’ Union, Careers Office, Lecturers, Students and Alumni.
Director Rebecca Roper
Currently I am the Head of Teaching and Learning in IADT and the RPL Lead for THEA. I lead the Final Year Matters Moving On programme and have lectured across a number of different departments; primarily Film and Television in the National Film School. I am passionate about student success.
I’ve also lectured in Theatre, Creativity, Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking and Performance Studies across the Humanities and Business Departments, so you’ve either had me as a lecturer or seen me in the corridors! I am the co-author and instigator of the First Year Matters (FYM/FYF) programme in 2013. I’ve worked extensively as a casting director in film and television in Ireland and internationally. You’ll see me on many of the Wednesday Webinars!
Education Officer IADT SU Rachael Sarsfield Ryan
As Education Officer, I provide information on any educational issues that you might experience. Another part of my role is to monitor course content and deal with student issues.
I can also provide information and assistance with SUSI grant applications, electives or deferrals. I’m a member of all education related committees in IADT and I help to develop educational policies both for IADTSU and IADT. I’m also a member of the Final Year Matters: Moving On (FYMMO) team, we’re the sister programme to First Year Matters (FYM). We run events all year long about life after undergrad, aimed at final year students and alumni.
Call into me at the office or say hello around campus.
Careers Service Dawn O’Connor
I lead the Careers Service in IADT. For advice and guidance on anything careers related please don’t hesitate to get in touch, I would be delighted to chat it through with you.
We run events during the year where we bring employers in to allow you the opportunity to have real and valuable experiences of mock interviews, mock pitches, mock assessment centres and employer-led workshops.. It is really worthwhile, and enjoyable, I promise – so definitely sign up and get involved! You won’t regret it.
I am also here to meet with you one to one around anything Careers, whether it’s an application, CV, LinkedIn, an upcoming interview, or simply trying to decide next steps – just come on to https://careershub.iadt.ie and book a slot that suits. And don’t forget to link in with the rest of my Student Services colleagues in Access, Disability, Counselling, Learning Support and Assistive Technology – we work in an holistic way and are all here to support you to create the scaffolding you need to achieve what it is that you want to achieve.
Really looking forward to working with you.
Lecturer Stefan Paz Berrios
I teach across a number of programmes in the Faculty. My expertise is in the teaching and practice-based research of User Interface (UI), User Experience (UX) and Web Design and Development. I ran the successful “Employers Forum” for over 5 years pairing students and companies from the IT/ Design sector.
I also ran the Showcase website for a number of years in the Dept. of Technology and Psychology which was focused on giving the students a space on the iadt site to showcase their work moving forward. I’m looking forward to bringing this knowledge to FYMMO to ensure students have a meaningful springboard into the real world once they finish with us.
Head of Department Therese Moylan
My day to day work involves working with staff to ensure that we are providing relevant, uptodate programmes of study in the areas of business, entrepreneurship and digital marketing that combine the theoretical and the applied.
What we are passionate about is developing opportunities within our programmes where students can apply what they are learning in realistic ways. Our aim is that students will develop over time the skills and competences that are going to help them adapt to an ever changing world of work. The FYMMO project focuses on supporting final year students to transition successfully from college and I am delighted to be associated with the project.
Lecturer Dr. Michael Connerty
I teach film and animation history and visual culture across a number of programmes in the Faculty of Film, Art and Creative Technologies, though my main base is the Animation programme, where I am currently the co-chair. My research interests also include comics history and I have published work on Victorian comics and classical Hollywood animation. I deliver an elective module on comics in Year 2 which combines theory and practice, and where I get to meet students from all programmes in the Faculty.
We keenly follow the activities of our animation graduates and encourage them to stay in touch- and, where possible, to return and share their experiences with the current cohort. I would hope to bring some of this sense of the range of post-graduation possibilities to bear on my involvement with FYMMO, whether in the arenas of work, further studies, or creative practice.
Research Assistant 2022 Elizabeth O'Brien
I am a current IADT Masters student in the Design for Change program. This course aims to enhance innovation and sustainability across a range of disciplines using design thinking and creative strategy. I have a background in science, completing my BSc Honours in zoology and natural sciences in 2018 at NUI Galway.
I am joining the FYMMO team as a Research Assistant. I am to combine my passion for research, innovation and creativity to help the team support students in creating inspired space for their future steps after IADT.
I value wellbeing, inclusivity, compassion and creative practice.
Programme Coordinator Louisa Keogh
I am honoured to be able to work within the Final Year Matters – Moving On team as Programme Coordinator. In my role I look after the FYMMO social media pages, organise events, answer any and all queries and you will most often see me at our webinars and events.
I have recently graduated from IADT in 2020 with an Honours Degree in English, Media and Cultural Studies.
Throughout my 4 years in college I became heavily involved with the Students Union and I was Class Representative for 2 years. I worked as a First Year Matters Leader twice and absolutely loved my experience working so closely to help new students.
I truly believe that IADT has such a strong student base and I hope to contribute to that through my work in the FYMMO programme.
Research Assistant Grace Latham
I spent four years as a student at IADT and in 2018 received my B.A. Hons in Art. I was Class Representative or Vice Class Rep each year and practically lived in the Quad.
I was elected Vice president for Education at IADT Students’ Union where I piloted Final Year Matters (with a lot of help). From July 2020 to January 2021, I was back at IADT as Research Assistant for Final Year Matters – Moving On.
Assistant Psychologist Jade Walsh
I currently work as an Assistant Psychologist in the Student Learning Centre in IADT. I support students on a one-to-one and group basis providing academic, time-management, social, and wellness guidance.
I completed my BSc in Applied Psychology in IADT in 2019 and then went on to complete my MSc in Applied Psychology at Trinity College Dublin in 2020. Alongside my studies at Trinity, I worked as a Research Assistant in the initial stages of FYMMO, and as a teaching assistant for 3rd of 4th-year Applied Psychology modules in IADT.
I am passionate about supporting students and am lucky enough to be able to do this daily in my current role. I also firmly believe FYMMO has great potential to make a positive impact on final year students and would encourage final year students to attend the wonderful events organised by the passionate team.
Editor Zoe Boss
I am a graduate of Film and Television Production student in the National Film School, IADT, 2021. I was also the editor and motion graphics artist of the FYMMO team during my final year.
Editing has always been a passion of mine. I love bringing a story to life, piecing it together in new and creative ways. I was excited to be a part of FYMMO because I have heard how tough the transition period can be from college into the world of work. FYMMO helps to ease this transition, giving students advice from a variety of industry professionals and past grad students, and I am glad that I can be a part of that.
