Minister O’Donovan launches ambitious strategic plan for IADT
Minister O’Donovan said: “Today sees the launch of an ambitious Strategic Plan which sets out the vision for IADT’s unique contribution to creativity, culture and technology.
“The institute’s achievements are well recognised and have drawn prestigious accolades including from the Oscars, Baftas and RHA as well as from the sciences which are close to my heart including the George Moore Scholarship for Applied Psychology.
“IADT’s 2,500 students representing 65 nationalities exemplify the spirit of innovation, creativity and ambition articulated in your strategic plan.
“I am also delighted to announce that IADT will receive a €2m allocation from the Technological Sector Advancement Fund. This will help drive important projects such as the Student Accelerator Programme which nurtures business and creative entrepreneurship.”
This Plan, which has been developed through broad-based consultation over the last year, sets out IADT’s vision and mission for the coming years, building on achievements as the National Film School, as Ireland’s campus for the creative industries, and as a pillar institution in the European University for film and screen media, FilmEU. The plan was formally adopted by the Institute’s Governing Body earlier this year and was publicly launched today.
Speaking at the launch, President David Smith said: “Today, we are announcing a unique vision for IADT and the central role that we intend to play in Ireland’s burgeoning creative economy and within an evolving higher education landscape – to become Ireland’s university for the Creative Industries.
We are proud of our creative DNA, but we are more than an art college and more than a film school – and have been for some time. Today, we are a multidisciplinary higher education institution committed to a range of disciplines and perspectives in business, technology, social science, and the humanities while continuously providing an exceptional portfolio of established programmes in art, design, and media.
Our determination and innate creative endeavour will enable us to realise our vision while also delivering on the Government’s exciting and ambitious roadmap for the creative industries.”
The Strategic Plan, which is available at http://strategy.iadt.ie, sets out IADT’s priorities in respect of education, sustainability, partnership, research, internationalisation, and transformation, supported by core and embedded fundamentals: student experience, people and organisation, EDI and belonging, and strategic finance.
