Psychology Students Receive Award for Research on Student Engagement after Lockdown
Two fourth year BSc Applied Psychology students have received an award for their work in fostering connections between students returning to campus after the isolation during the pandemic lockdowns.
Katerina Hruba and Olivia Wynne presented at the prestigious Northern Ireland BPS Annual Conference in late 2022.
Addressing the theme of the conference on ‘Cultivating Creativity and Connection in an evolving world’, Katrina and Olivia described how they had developed a series of interactive games to help students broaden their connections within the college.
The judging committee commented: “Congratulations to Katerina Hruba and Olivia Wynne from IADT Dun Laoghaire who received the runner-up prize in the student Poster presentation at the Annual Northern Ireland BPS Conference, 2022. The poster described their research project which used creativity to engage students to foster a sense of community. When presenting their work, Katerina and Olivia showed great enthusiasm, knowledge and excellent presentation skills.”
BSc Applied Psychology Programme Co-ordinator, Ms. Sinéad Meade, added: “Congratulations to Katerina and Olivia. This project is an admirable example of Applied Psychology in practice. The Applied Psychology team and I are delighted that Katerina and Olivia’s work has received this recognition at the Annual Northern Ireland BPS Conference, 2022.”
