The Thought Lab founding members are delighted to welcome Roisín Higgins, Professor of History at Maynooth University, who will present a public talk at the launch entitled:
‘Creativity and Collaboration: How Do We Tell New Histories?’
Professor Higgins’s talk will be followed by discussion and Q&A.

Professor Roisín Higgins’s research focuses on how individuals and societies remember and commemorate difficult and contested histories. She authored the book Transforming 1916: Meaning, Memory and the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Easter Rising (2012). Her media experience includes RTÉ’s popular television show National Treasures and she was an expert consultant for Dublin’s GPO Museum. In 2022 she received funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UK) for the project ‘Towards a Sociosomatic History of the Troubles’ (with Professor Cahal McLaughlin and Kabosh Theatre Company).
Thought Lab is a collaborative and interdisciplinary arts and humanities research group at IADT. This group brings to public and community attention critical and experimental research foregrounding inventive crossovers between histories, theories and creative practices. Its founding members are IADT academics: Dr. Jessica Foley, Dr. Tina Kinsella, Dr. Linda King, Dr. Martina Mullaney, Dr. Sorcha O’Brien, Dr. Siobhán O’Gorman and Dr. Maria Parsons.
