Paul Scully Cultural Event Management

Studying the Postgrad Diploma in Business in Cultural Event Management at IADT was a wonderful experience from which I have gained a lot.

Previously, I had had some event management experience but no formal training. The course helped to consolidate my experience but also provided a large amount of new learning opportunities and resources which I still draw from today.

The wide-ranging topics covered in the modules provided new insights for me around cultural policy in Ireland and abroad, long-term strategic management in arts/cultural organisations, Business management, and more. One of my projects for assessment has since become a reality and I am now managing Unit 44, a venue, rehearsal space, and artist studios in Dublin.

I met a lot of great people on the course, many of whom are now good friends and collaborators. Our group became very close and we all remain in contact since graduating.

Overall I found the course to be beneficial both as an arts worker and also as an artist. Being in classes with many like-minded lecturers and class mates was very valuable and I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in working in the arts.
