What will I do?

  • Learn how to creatively use industry-standard equipment and software
  • Learn from some of the finest music industry practitioners in the contemporary music scene in Ireland
  • Benefit from a mixture of lectures and practical work of the highest commercial standard
  • Get unrivalled industry experience, access and contacts
  • Erasmus Programme options are available in Year 2. Students can alternatively choose to arrange a work experience placement at this time.

Following a shared first year, students study one of two pathways:

Creative Music Production

Gain in-depth knowledge of recording studios and music production software. Focus on the integration of core sound engineering and audio creation skills through practical projects in professional facilities. Topics include: audio electronics, audio programming and production for games. Cultural context is offered via research-based modules. Focus on your interests through mentor-led projects.

Creative Music Practice

Develop your musicianship as an instrumental performer while focusing on the creation of music and audio. This pathway develops your performance skills, while enabling and enhancing the production and practice of music and audio. Learn to use technology creatively (as opposed to constituting a pure music performance degree). Performance develops your primary musical instrument skills. Genre & Ensemble covers collaboration across instruments and creative solutions. Creativity linked with technical prowess is central. The programme focuses on industry standard tools and processes, and the client/artist relationship. Diverse, student-driven major works in later years provide a platform to the working world.
