IADT student awarded second prize at All-Ireland Student Psychology Congress

Jack Wells was awarded second place in the undergraduate oral presentations category at the recent All-Ireland Student Psychology Congress for his thesis entitled: Purpose, Coherence, Mattering, and Life Crafting: The Development and Validation of a Novel Meaning-Making Intervention.
He was presented with his award by Dr Anne Kehoe, President of the Psychological Society of Ireland.
Seven IADT Applied Psychology final year students participated in the recent congress and spoke afterwards at how well run and enjoyable they had found the experience.
“Student presentations were broken up by fascinating talks from a range of bright guest speakers, who presented on important topics from climate anxiety to neuroticism and how it impacts mental health.” Said Jack, who said the highlight of the event was “Networking with other young psychologists with deep and diverse interests.”
Olivia Wynne presented her project on Multifaceted and Education-Only Flow Interventions: The Effect on Subjective Performance and Flow State in Rock Climbing.
Olivia spoke afterwards that “It was a fantastic opportunity to hear about other student’s projects and to attend a wide range of guest lectures. It was definitely an engaging and thought-provoking experience!”
Aisling Deegan presented her research on Investigating the Effects of Mental Health-Related Podcasts: Listening Frequency, Personality and Self-Efficacy.
“The All-Ireland Student Psychology Congress was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the outcomes of my final year research, learn more about other student’s studies, and envision potential future research ideas.”
Other students who presented their projects were :
Kate Connolly – Investigating the relationship between gratitude, life satisfaction and academic motivation.
Ellie McDonald – Exploring undergraduates attitudes towards attendance and their motivations for attending.
Rebecca Montague – Relationship between self-esteem, extraversion and life satisfaction in undergraduate students.
Emer O’Byrne – An investigation into the cosmetics use and personality traits on self-esteem.
