IADT participated in Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week, December 7-13, 2015. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.
It is organized by Code.org, a public non-profit organisation dedicated to expanding participation in computer science. An unprecedented coalition of partners have come together to support the Hour of Code; including Microsoft, Apple and Facebook.
IADT’s Creative Computing course hosted 60 transition year students from Presentation College Terenure on Monday 7 December, in a hands on workshop that used code to explore the magic and beauty of ice.
Creative Computing also hosted 25 transition year students from the Dominican Convent Wicklow on Thursday 10 December. The students drew snowflakes and patterns in a winter wonderland that they were then able to share with friends.
The workshops were a great success.
