Congratulating the staff nominated by their students, IADT, President David Smith acknowledged the commitment and outstanding contributions of these staff members following the announcement of the Awards.
‘I am delighted to acknowledge and commend our Lecturers on their awards this evening. Our student’s recognition of each Lecturer’s impact and contribution towards educating and enabling them to reach their full potential, is all the more notable given the significant changes in practices both staff and students faced to over the last year. The wide representation of disciplines recognised is incredibly pleasing. Our ‘Teaching Hero’s’ truly reflect the diversity of practice and interdisciplinary opportunities unique to IADT’
The Teaching Hero Awards are Ireland’s only national, student-led awards for all those who teach in higher education.
The Awards are organised by the National Forum in collaboration with the Union of Students in Ireland and other students’ unions nationwide. They provide an opportunity for students across the country to recognise and celebrate outstanding teaching in our higher education institutions. Teaching Heroes are nominated by individual students, who submit a short personal piece that explains why the person is their ‘Teaching Hero’. Based on student nominations, all Teaching Heroes identified, with their agreement, receive national recognition.
