Visual Communication Design and the RIAM Opera collaborate again
This project builds on a long-standing collaboration between Vis Comm and the RIAM (Royal Academy of Music) where students of the programme have provided visual identities for many of the company's operas over recent years.
Joe Phelan, a fourth-year Visual Communication Design student, designed the visual identity and publicity materials for RIAM Opera’s most recent production (January 15-21), comprising a double-bill of La Liberazione di Ruggiero dall’Isola di Alcina (1625) by Francesca Caccini and The Sofa (1957) by Elizabeth Maconchy.
In designing posters, a programme, invitations and adverts for social media, Joe’s winning designs were selected from a cohort of thirty students. His work photographically interpreted the production using image and type to capture the seductive and humorous worlds of both operas.
